Hello friends! How are you doing today? Have you had a nice week? I’ve been busy but am doing well. I wrote a foreword for a new book coming out in the Spring, Happy Home: Everyday Magic for a Colorful Life by Charlotte Hedeman Gueniau, and I started working on the curriculum with my friend Steffi for a weekend workshop that we will have in my home studio space in December on the 8th and 9th in Hannover, Germany. AND WE NEED A NAME FOR IT! Help us, bloggers!
Can you help? I thought it would be fun to ask readers for a name. The workshop will be for those looking for inspiration and ideas for their blogs with a focus on beginning a new year with confidence, creativity and joy. I am teaming up with journalist and blogger, Steffi Luxat, from Ohhh Mhhh and together, we will lead you on an inspirational journey – we’ll visit some of my favorite places for inspiration locally, we’ll hang out in my home talking, sharing and eating, and we’ll do a little shopping together, too. It’s going to be all about love, joy, happiness, creativity, courage and finding your style and voice and then, communicating it with passion. What do you think, any names for this workshop pop into mind?
I tell you what, if we choose your name for my workshop, I’ll personally sign and send a copy of Decorate Workshop, my upcoming book, to you! It will be my gift to thank you for helping us finding a great day for our special retreat.
I will post registration details soon on this page – but if you want to come, please email me right away so I can reserve a ticket for you since we can only fit 14 people max and the workshop is for two days so you have to be available on December 8 & 9 for both full days. You can contact me if you are interested: holly at decor8blog.com.
In addition to planning our inspirational workshop for bloggers, I’ve been working on writing all of the lessons for my Blogging Your Way Boot Camp e-course that kicks off on Monday, October 8th. Students logged in today and are getting settled in, which is so exciting because I love the energy in our virtual classroom. In this class, I have guest teachers Jeanette Lunde from By Fryd and Nicole Balch from Making It Lovely and together, we will set your blogging hearts on fire! The focus is to get in good blogging shape so when 2013 rolls around, you can face a new year of blogging your way with confidence and courage, style and finesse. It’s my last online class for this year, though I’ll teach again in March/April online, but no two classes are identical so if you want to take Boot Camp, please click here to register because we only have a few seats left and will close registration on Sunday night, October 7th.
Okay so back to our blogging retreat in December – any ideas for a cute name anyone!? If we pick your name, you win a copy of Decorate Workshop and for some reason, if more than one of you have the same great name, we’ll pick the first person who commented with the idea to be fair, okay? Thank you all soooo much! Contest Ends October 10th!

Hi Everyone, It is Leslie here with a little announcement for decor8 readers living in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. I am participating in a gift giving contest on the German Etsy blog today. Please help me select an Etsy gift for my step daughter Caitlin Sheehan from Admiral and Tea. You have until midnight (Central European Time) tonight to post your gift suggestion and then I will pick one gift that best suits her from your entries.
The winner of the day will be announced tomorrow. The competition runs for 3 weeks (Dec. 5-23), so at the end there will be 15 people whom Etsy will raffle off a 3 day trip to Brooklyn, NY (including visiting the Etsy office). The winner of the trip will be announced on Dec. 24th – fun! You can participate here and I can’t wait to see what you can help me find for Caitlin! xo, Leslie

Hello friends! First, I’d like to thank those of you who entered my gift wrap class (& etc.) at the Anthropologie Pop Up Cafe at Barcomi’s Deli in Berlin (posted here). I know many of you cannot make it because Berlin is no where near where you live, but I wanted to do something locally (to me) because I really want to support Anthropologie and their new German website – it’s exciting to see them making their way into my new home country as I’ve really missed having Anthro stores nearby, especially after living in Boston for so many years. I hope these pop up events lead to a few stores in Germany down the road, I know they’d be a huge hit! But I digress… it’s now time to announce the 8 winners so you can arrange your schedule to join us on Friday – because that’s coming up quickly! And my 8 special guests will be…
If your name is above, I will contact you via email today with details and to confirm your attendance. If you cannot make the event please let me know today so I can select another winner and give them your seat. Cake, coffee, the class and the Anthropologie gift cards are only valid to those who attend on Friday so it’s important that you show up!
If you entered the contest but DID NOT win, I invite you to stop by anyway between 4-6 p.m. because you can always observe our class and if there are extra supplies and a few spare seats, I certainly don’t mind a few guests sitting in – though we cannot guarantee you a seat at our table – and you wouldn’t receive the freebies, but please do stop by to see Barcomi’s beautiful cafe in the “Anthropologie” style and of course, to say hello to me. I’d like that!
I’m really looking forward to this Friday! I’ll see you soon Julianne, Simone, Anna, Annie, Ursula, Anja, Toni and Urzula! Oh and yes, a VERY special thank you to Cynthia, Massimiliano, Claudia and Anthropologie for making this event possible – I can’t wait!

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to share a fun contest though I realize that few can enter because it’s for an event taking place in Berlin this Friday! BUT, if you happen to live nearby and want to take part, please read on… To celebrate Anthropologie’s new GERMAN website (they now ship free to Germany if you spend 75 € or more), they will present a special Anthropologie pop up cafe at the lovely Barcomi’s Cafe in Berlin for ONE WEEK ONLY from November 23 – 28th. How cool is THAT, Germany!?
As part of this very special event, I have been invited to teach a gift wrapping class on November 25th (Yes, THIS Friday!) in their pop up space at Barcomi’s Cafe from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and I can’t wait! All are allowed to visit (of course) and hang out with us but only 8 will have a seat in my crafty corner while I teach you one-on-one how to wrap your presents with personality using found papers, ribbons, rubber stamps, masking tape and other crafty things. I’ll bring the supplies, and you can take the things that you make home with you, too. Along with my special two hour class, we’ll chat over homemade Barcomi’s cakes and coffee (or tea) and each of my 8 special winners will receive a 25 € gift card to shop Anthropologie online. How fun is that!?
If you’d like to join us, please enter by:
1.) LIKING Anthropologie Deutschland on Facebook
2.) Sign up for their newsletter and finally…
3.) Leave a comment below with your name (first/last) and why you’d like to take my class. It’s that simple!
I’ll draw the winning names on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23 and you will be contacted by email on Wednesday IF YOU HAVE WON. Please only ENTER IF YOU CAN ATTEND THE CLASS otherwise this special contest and offer is not valid and will be awarded to another person.
I can’t wait to see you on Friday – remember ENTER TODAY!

I was thrilled and honored when nearly 1,200 decor8 readers entered to win a signed copy of my new book, Decorate (UK version)! A big hug and a mighty thank you to everyone for participating. As promised, there are 3 winners and I’d like to share those names with you now. You will be contacted today with a request for your complete mailing address so that your book can be sent. Please allow up to a few weeks for it to arrive, depending on where you live.

Many, many thanks for entering this contest — for those who didn’t win, here is a list of many large retailers worldwide who stock the book, however lots of smaller shops carry it too. I am waiting for Chronicle, Murdoch and Jacqui Small Publishing to send me lists of where it is sold so I can give all of the shops a huge shout out on decor8 so when I have those lists I will share the stocklist with you. If you want a signed copy, Liberty online carries a few and Selfridges in London (in their book section on the lower floor has a few left) along with both London Anthropologie locations who carry signed copies for a limited period so visit their stores in London for those.
I appreciate all of your love and support regarding my first book, this was a huge step for me but the love and support in this community has been overwhelming and delightful — you’ve made it such a special time of my life and a great way to always remember this blogging era as I refer to this period when we are all online, blogging, connecting and meeting up. Who knows where blogs will be in twenty years, but personally this book will forever mark this time period as I’m sure it will for you as well. When you author a blog, so much is read and enjoyed but then forever stored in the archives — I have thousands of posts that some of you may never find as they are buried and long forgotten. That is why this book is such a special collection of my thoughts, tips, Joanna’s ideas, Debi’s gorgeous images that I love — and it’s all in one place so that others who like decor8 can have a little slice of it in book form.
Oh I have to thank you — I sooooo appreciate the many reviews that you are leaving on your blogs, amazon, other websites, etc. about Decorate — I’m linking all of them on the Decorate fan page on Facebook but if I’ve not seen or linked yours there yet, please run over and link it on that page and also on the decor8 fan page so everyone can see what you wrote!
And again — a big warm congratulations to Krystal, Krissy and Jorissa! I hope that you will enjoy your signed copy of Decorate from me to you. It is the UK version, so it will be in British English with the cover showing designer/writer Rita Konig’s New York City living room with her gorgeous sofa (shown in photos above). I hope that you enjoy it!
