I’m so glad that Alison designed a midwest-inspired mood board because this is where Amy Butler lives and takes inspiration from for her collection. I like seeing the crisp navy, nice accent.
Name: Alison Coffey
Occupation: Mental Health Counselor
Theme: Midwestern Summer Cottage
Inspiration: The Midwest! And blueberry pavlova, strawberry shortcake, yellow summer flowers, warm breezes, cool breezes, and laid back, casual living. Oh, and just about anything from that awesome company Maine Cottage. I’m a Midwestern girl, but I live in Texas. Oh how I miss the Midwest summers!
Thank you for entering the decor8/Amy Butler mood board contest, Alison!

If spending time at the shore is your favorite way to relax, then you’ll really enjoy the color palette and Julia Rothman-inspired seaside modern room that Flavia pulled together. Natural wood combined with white lacquered furniture is such a pretty combination. And these colors – so serene!
Name: Flavia Leite
Occupation: Public Relations Manager
State/Country: Virginia, USA
Theme: Beachy Modern
Inspiration: I wanted to create a room dedicated to working on creative projects. I started with the blue, one of my favorite colors, and was going on a different direction until I saw the pink flamingo pattern by Julia Rothman. It inspired me to make the room brighter and more beach-y. Thanks for holding such a fun contest!
Thank you for entering the decor8/Amy Butler mood board contest, Flavia! I’ll post as many entries as I can fit in today, and then that’s it, the contest will wrap up and tomorrow we’ll all get to vote for our new winners. Yeah!

This contest gives us plenty of design inspiration, agree? I’m sure that your brain is buzzing — thinking of a hundred new things to do to your home this weekend, am I right? I have about 10 more entries to post, so voting may have to wait until Monday because in addition to the entries waiting for me in my inbox, I discovered over 30 additional ones in my spam folder that I had to sort through tonight (thanks yahoo mail for that). Treasured Haven by Erica is one of them that nearly didn’t make it in. (I’m so glad I found you, Erica!)
Name: Erica Midkiff
Occupation: Assistant Financial Representative
Theme: Treasured Haven
What inspired your board?: I imagine this room being all my own, containing only the things that I love the most. The time here would be entirely unscripted and unedited; just me and my thoughts. Any additional comments you’d like to include: I am always drawn to images of airy, open, sparse rooms, but my true style reflects a love for things, especially those that have some meaning or remind me of some part of my life. The photos on this mood board are from catalogs and magazines, but my own home reflects the same mix of styles, slightly muted and earthy palette, and a penchant for vignettes. Each image on this board represents a moment, a feeling, that inspires me. There is order here, but there is also freedom.

This entry doesn’t require words from me. It speaks volumes on its own. I allowed it in the competition because of the feeling it evokes and the thought that went into creating it. I can also envision using some of the materials as furniture, such as the leather coat, so it’s works for me. See for yourself. It’s one of my favorites.

Occupation: Manager (design is my hobby, but in the future it might become more.)
Your blog/website: www.jevedesign.cz (still under construction)
State/Country: Czech Republic
Theme: Everything is allowed, nothing is mandatory
Inspiration: The warmth and the scent of Tuscany, combined with the green freshness and mildness of Ireland. I love summer mornings when the grass is wet with dew and warm summer evenings filled with the sound of cicadas. I love the safe, relaxed feeling of comfortable home (perhaps even in the meaning of oasis or sanctuary), where you are free to do anything… but you do not have to do anything.
Notes: Here is the translation of all the Czech terms:
- Volnost = liberty (in this context, liberty / freedom to do anything you want).
- Oaza = oasis (a place of love, a place of peace, a place to rest, place to have fun, place where one is safe).
- ctvero rocnich obdobi = the four seasons of the year.
- muzete vsechno & nemusite nic = everything is allowed, nothing is mandatory.
