Now this is totally type A! ByALEX, a British design company based in London, wrote in recently about their A-frame furniture and I found it so cool I had to write up a little post. I appreciate playful design, don’t you? Though I must highlight that this design is all about form and function — not only does the A-frame give the furniture strength but it reflects their passion for typography in a creative, playful way. No doubt type-junkie customers will love it too! Here is the stool AND the lamp…

Love seeing the teaming up of Kate Spade and Florence Broadhurst for a limited collection of things for the home and to wear that look so fresh for spring. These strong black and white graphic prints caught my eye today, particularly when a bold, punchy orange is thrown in. This would make for a fabulously retro kitchen scheme for sure! If orange isn’t your thing, you could swap it out for love heart red or a big bad banana yellow or even a fabulous kermit the frog green. And yes, I should totally name paint for a living or nail polish! ha ha!
Do you like this pattern or do you wish another Broadhurst pattern had made the cut? And did you see the lining of this coat? It’s gorgeous though severely out of my price range…

Oh dear, this new radio from Orla Kiely is a must have. How cute. Does it make your heart explode from your chest, too?
This is the brand new Evoke radio and here’s a little bit about it proving that it’s not just cute but smart, too, “The exterior boasts a choice of prints, a mirror chromed folding handle, walnut veneered cabinet, cream fascia and a stylish leather tag on the multi colourway. It is packed with features too, including digital and FM radio, an input for your iPod/MP3 player, Intellitext and textSCAN, a striking auto-dimming OLED display, an alarm, a kitchen timer and a USB connector for future product upgrades.”
This is now on my wish list in a really big way.

I received some information about The Creative Finder and thought it could potentially be a good resource to share with those of you looking to either find or hire someone in a creative field OR if you want to find work or share your portfolio online. MySpace has become the spot for indie musicians to network, perhaps The Creative Finder will be a sort of MySpace for creatives? Only time will tell.

For now, have a look around and tell me what you think. There are not many portfolios on the site yet but let’s hope they’ll grow because the potential is there. The only problem I see is that it doesn’t seem to be curated so it could become difficult for companies to use this site if it is not curated somehow — I think that is the main reason why so many companies work straight through agents to find talent, this work is all done for them. Perhaps The Creative Finder can think of a way to make it work long term.
About The Creative Finder, “The Creative Finder is a global directory that targets businesses looking to hire professional creatives such as illustrators, photographers, designers, and art directors…. it is also a platform that allows creatives to manage their works and maximize their exposure towards decision-makers across all industries and countries, via both online and offline channels.”
Alli Coate, Illustrator, USA
You can find the work of stylists, photographers, illustrators, music composers and more on this site AND if you are a creative looking to network, why not join (a basic account is free) and see what happens? Spread the word if you feel this site could be helpful to you and your friends, too!

I love AphroChic and I’m sure all of the blogs will be buzzing this week with announcements of their latest collection — because it’s positively awesome on a stick! There are pillows, you can select from fun new wallpapers, and you can buy tabletop linens and big bonus: shower curtains! Check this stuff out. Oh yeah!
Congrats to Jeanine Hays, creator and founder, for launching such a beautiful line for this season – great work! I love seeing where you will go with this and what you’ll roll out next, and I’m so proud to see your collection growing and doing so well.
