Laura Day Design

I just discovered Laura Day Design yesterday (thanks to reader Jane) and really love her style. What a great eye this lady has, and definitely a wonderful resource to look up if you live in the NY area and want to transform your space into a gorgeous place to reside. Here are a few images from her NY apartment. Don’t we all dream of a balcony like this?

Inspiration Saturday: David Hicks, Designer

Today on Inspiration Saturday, let’s enjoy a few jaw dropping images from the portfolio of Designer David Hicks. I love his use of color over the years, it really pushes us to experiment a little, doesn’t it? If you’d enjoy looking at more, visit his website – that will keep you busy for awhile. (I just love his fabric.) Have a lovely weekend, I’ll see you on Monday!

Zia-Priven + The Domino Design Project

I really enjoyed Domino magazine this month, particularly for their feature on their design project where they teamed up with eight top interior designers to redesign and furnish apartments for those living with HIV/AIDS at Woodycrest House, a 40-unit apartment building in South Bronx.

I want to be assigned to a project like that… I’ve volunteered on construction projects for non-profits (like Habitat for Humanity) since I was 18 (I think I can count 30 volunteer redesigns, gut rehabs, landscape projects, or complete builds), but I’ve not yet been involved in something as exciting (and challenging) as the Domino project where I could redesign space for a family in need. What a thrilling (and fulfilling) opportunity for those designers.

As I examined each room, I noticed lots of Zia-Priven lighting, the crowning touch to any space. The frosting on the cake. See for yourself in the images below.

Sara Bengur’s room, notice the Zia-Priven red pendant. Image from Domino.

Katie Lydon’s room, complete with Zia-Priven “Fioretti Wallpaper” hanging lamp. Image via Domino.

David Netto’s room, with Zia-Priven “Coco” hanging lamp.

Zia-Priven sent over some designs that they’ll be showing at the upcoming NYIGF (below). Stunning!

If you’re at the NYIGF (1/28-2/1), you can find Zia-Priven at Pier 94/AT HOME, Booth #45041. Would you like to learn more about Zia-Priven – how they got their start, inspirations, materials, and more? Click here.

Psst: Here is complete Slideshow of the The Domino Design Project. Fun!

Alberto Pinto Design Firm

Maryam mentioned him on her blog recently, the great Alberto Pinto, a designer I have watched and admired for a long time. With a firm based in France and a staff of 55, they are truly international stars in their field, designing everything from the homes of the royals to the interiors of yachts and private jets. I dare you to try to control yourself. View the Alberto Pinto portfolio here.
