MoMA Store: Spring Finds

If you’re looking for unique seating options, or anything else modern and fresh, try visiting the MoMA Store.

For lighting, the Standing Blue Lamp designed by Isamu Noguchi is gorgeous, and who can resist the Wise Ol’ Owl Mobile, inspired by 1960’s Japanese and Danish design designed by Helene Ige. For seating, how about the very cool Ripple Chair from Ron Arad (looks like a giant bow), or the Supernatural from Ross Lovegrove, available in green (shown) or white. The Supernatural also happens to be somewhat of an affordable find at $180.-USD.

Paulina Reyes + Kate Spade’s Behind The Curtain

I first discovered Paulina Reyes a few months ago while browsing the Kate Spade website. Paulina is a painter and illustrator, and a senior member of Kate’s creative team. While browsing the site, I stumbled upon Behind the Curtain, a cornucopia of imagery, links, and all things Kate Spade, including highlights from her current ad campaign. It’s quite a treasure chest, so give yourself time to peruse the site.

Learn more about Paulina here, and catch a glimpse of some of her illustrative work below. I love the bold graphics and the bright primary colors.

Aren’t these images from Kate’s 2007 calendar the best? The below images show the works of Anik Palulian and Abby Clawson Low. Paulina Reyes also contributed to this calendar. You can purchase it online, available as a small or large desk calendar or for the wall. I can see all the preppy girls lining up for this one with their Kate bag swinging from their shoulder. I love the vibe, very happy and totally screams weekends at the beach, which I’m betting we are all ready for right about now. Dreary winter, be gone!

Ferm Living Wallpaper and Wall Decals

It was exciting to discover Ferm Living out of Denmark because everything from their beautiful website spoke to me, especially the peacock wallpaper and their very grown up wall decals. So sophisticated, so gorgeous, while yet still maintaining a bit of subtle charm so as to not send your room decor into a state of absolute shock (as some wallpapers can). I love these images from Elle Decor showing Ferm wallpaper, a great example of how pairing it with ordinary furnishings really works well, adding glamour to a casual space gives your room a voice!

I think it’s best to keep bold wallcoverings on a single wall (vs. all four), unless it’s in a small room or a narrow hallway, then I say install it on all the walls (even the ceiling if you so fancy) and have yourself a wallpaper party! Otherwise, one wall is enough for me. Ferm also designs classy wall decals, as you’ll see in the grouping below. Browse the Ferm website for more examples, and a huge thank you to Imelda for the tip via her lovely blog!
