Urban Outfitters *New* for Spring

A huge thanks to Kiley from Urban Outfitters for sending over a cd product preview for Spring. No sticker shock here, great buys for doing a little Spring spruce up in your home. Here are my picks:

The mid century sofa for only $480- (what a deal), and a floral ink blot rug for $68. A kitschy cute swedish tile hook for $10 (available in 4 patterns), and an oilcloth optic table for $29. I think the table would look really cute on a patio, don’t you?

I find the swedish rose bedspread for $32 to be quite sweet (did you notice it’s being used as a curtain in the top image behind the mid century sofa – I like that!) and these vegetale wall decals for $50 (these aren’t new but they’re on sale so I thought I’d throw them in) are a great find – apply them to most surfaces. I bet a single flower would look great on a chalkboard, mirror, or a stainless fridge. And finally, my last fave, this porcelain lattice lamp base for $42 (minus the shade they show it with online, not a fan of that).

Thanks again, Kiley!

Bodie and Fou Goodies + A New Blog!

I’ve blogged about Bodie and Fou before, but I can’t get enough – I love everything on their website. Look at these killer finds, can you stand it? Gorgeous.

This gorgeous pendant designed by Normann Copenhagen and Simon Karkov, the Black & Blum pendant light, a delicious butterfly cake stand from Polly George, and the latest ceramic lamp from Flavia del Pra (featured in the March issue of Living Etc.)

Also, don’t miss thier new blog. It’s a great read. I love their recent post about a great Amsterdam sublet. Looks like my kind of place…

Eames Fabric – Online

Thought I’d pass along a gem of a website for those mid century modern textile lovers out there. It’s called I like it because it’s not for the trade only, so anyone can purchase the textiles online. Girard, Nelson, Maharam, Panton, Eames… It’s all right here.

RecreateThis Room: Chairs With Socks!

I love the simplicity of this dining room and was thinking of ways to recreate the look for less. It’s a fairly easy room to create. Watch.

First, you can grab the nepture chairs ($298 each) from Anthropologie or the Bull chairs from 2bMod for $240 and team them up with the large Roost Porcelain Bell light from Velocity for $187 or the Septim from IKEA in white ($25). Next, grab a tulip table with a marble top from Retro Design Furniture for $895 or the Odyssey from CB2 for $149. (an original ’60’s Eero Saarinen wood topped tulip dining table from Knoll is around $3,800).

Viola! But wait. Those chairs aren’t exactly budget finds. So that brings me to another idea. When I first saw the image, I called it the dining room with socks. The chairs really do look like they are wearing socks, don’t they? So why not get creative and break out the white paint, paint ordinary wood chairs white, and either paint your own socks on in any color you’d like, or crochet a pair to slip on. Hey, you can even add your own by cutting the feet off of socks and slipping them on. I mean, c’mon. How cute would that be?
