I Have Arrived…

This post on Marisa’s blog made my day.

It means so much to me when a decor8 reader relates to something I’ve said here on the blog. It makes working on my own less lonely. I tend to avoid design projects in the winter, I simply don’t like running around on residential design projects in zero degree weather. I’m a southern girl, all this snow and gray gets to me so I prefer to just stay indoors. (Although I have a bachelor pad to start working on in a few weeks over at Charles River Park in Boston, so I’ll be out and about again soon enough.) Anyway, thanks Marisa for the post. :) It’s really nice to know that I’m not alone and finding those of you through this blog that can relate to me means so much. So thank you.

If any of you missed the news, Marisa and I are teaming up for a podcast in the next few weeks about Creative Living – I’ll be posting more about that here as soon as it’s live. Should be fun! Let me know if you have any specific questions for us about either working for yourself, making the break from the corporate world, creative living, design and decorating, or whatever else you have on your mind. Comment below or send me an email at decor8blog{at}yahoo{dot}com.

Feanne Badges

Look at Feanne’s cute and shiny art buttons. I see so many badges I love, but feel pretty clueless as to how and where to use them since I’d never wear them on a jacket or a bag, it’s just not my style. But they’re super cute. Artsy even.

I’ve been collecting the ones my friends send to me in a simple glass canning jar with a silver screw top. They look pretty inside, but some are like mini works of art and would be far nicer on display. I’m thinking a shadow box, perhaps? 4 rows of 4 buttons arranged in a perfect square format? Maybe you could even pop the backs off to create magnets or hot glue them them to curtain hooks as a decorative element for a quirky cute look in the bathroom (for that, I’d suggest using the same badge for each hook). Maybe you could pop off the pin back and glue them to a ribbon for display or wrap around a jar filled with candy to give a friend? I’m always looking at things a thousand different ways to see how they can be used.

Any ideas on badge display? Do you have any photos showing what you’ve done with your badge collection? Send them in, I’d love to see what you’ve done. Check out all of Feanne’s pins here at her Prickie store. Thanks Feanne for writing in, we really appreciate seeing your work!

These look like items you’d see on display in some of your favorite rooms in Domino magazine, don’t they? I want the parrot cage and all of her owl mugs!
