Made By One Girl

Made By One Girl is Lisa Norris, a lovely artist based in Chattanooga, TN. Lisa obtained her BFA in Painting and Sculpture from Parsons in 1992. Lisa comments:

“Painting, bookbinding, sculpture, photography and teaching consume my life, and I enjoy every minute of it. My vast collection of vintage objects not only inspires my work, but also becomes an important part of the finished pieces. Bringing decorative papers and found objects together keeps my hands busy, my creativity flowing, and my life festive. Instructing workshops, exhibiting my collages and participating in outdoor art festivals allows me many opportunities to express myself through my art. Collecting, creating, and sharing make it possible for me to have a creative life.”

You can download Lisa’s PDF catalog (soooo dreamy), or browse her large geometrical floral motif Tori photo albums at Anthropologie. If you’re in the Chattanooga area, she’ll be at the 4 Bridges Arts Festival next month.

I’m really having fun today posting about all these artists – can’t you tell? :)

Fishs Eddy

decor8 reader Michelle in sunny LA, just told me about some dirty dishes over at Fishs Eddy that I simply had to post. How cute are these? The pole dancer girl glasses are naughty but nice, too. If you need inspiration to run more, the running tray may be just what you need. Shop Fishs Eddy online or visit their flagship store in NYC on Broadway and 19th Street, with additional locations on Manhattan’s Upper West Side (Broadway and 77th Street), and Upper East Side (Third Avenue and 79th Street). They also have a new location in Brooklyn Heights at 122 Montague Street. Also liking the Brooklyn platter, I have to tell my friend Deanna about this over in the Heights, she’d love it.

Call For Entries – THAW 2006

The Works Visual Arts Society and IDEA are presenting another edition of the THAW 2006 Contemporary Furniture Design Exhibit in Edmonton and have just put out a call for entries.

“The objective of this exhibit is to continue our exploration of the relationship between the designer and the end user with an attempt to provide awareness in sustainable designed products. This time we have introduced ourselves to the persona of Agnes Petterson, who is to be the inspiration behind all designs submitted. Attached you will find a light-hearted questionnaire that Agnes has filled out in order for you to acquaint yourself with her. Designs should be based on your interpretation of her personality and lifestyle. However, the intention is not to custom design to her lifestyle but more so to envision her as the consumer or end user. What would Agnes buy? Selection will be based on this interpretation, as well as product quality, originality, innovated use of material, and aesthetic appeal”.

You can check out images from past Thaw exhibits over at IDEA’s website. Deadline to submit is April 1, 2006.

Thank you Adriean Koleric from DesignBOT for passing on this information to decor8 readers!
