Travel Addicts…

Visiting the glam life in LA? Rushing off to the windy city? Trekking up to Boston? If you love to travel as much as I do, don’t miss the decor8 shopping list column! Find the city, click the links, viola! You’ll know exactly where to find the hippest design stores when you arrive.

If you have hot spots in your city that you think would be a great fit for decor8, please submit them at decor8blog[at]yahoo[dot]com.

Speaking of travel, check out my article about Hannover, Germany. This city strikes quite an emotional cord for me since it’s home to my relatives, many friends, and the city where I not only met my husband, but where I first heard the words, “Will you marry me?”. I hope you enjoy it, and please check out GKFA where I’m now a regular contributor. With a 3.5 million readership in North America, the U.K. and across Europe, I’m excited to tune more readers into all that is wonderful in Hannover!

psst….If you’re a soccer fan, Hannover is hosting the FIFA World Cup in June!

[BOSTON] Tour Vessel

Step inside Vessel…

Pairing up technical ingenuity and appealing modern design almost flows too easily for the folks over at Vessel. I’m sure you’ve spotted their cord-free candela lights before, these are great candle alternatives for people with allergies (there are truck loads of smelly candles out there), or for those with curious pets who want to avoid cat-on-fire. I also think they’d come in handy if you party hard and would like to avoid cool-new-rug-on-fire, too. Wouldn’t they be useful at summer beach parties, or on your outdoor patio? No more running for the matches whenever the wind blows! I love all the pretty colors…

Vessel carries more than candela lights, though. They feature the squat series of furniture that decor8 featured in the past, along with hip tableware like the workplace dish set:

… and the fusionware dishes that I appreciate because I like to separate the dips from the chips without using two separate bowls. Plus, it’s good portion control. Dumping a bowl of dip into one bowl and grabbing a bag of chips and running off to the sofa isn’t an option, people. :)

Have I whet your appetite for a store tour? Here’s a glimpse of their space in Boston at 125 Kingston Street. I don’t know about you, but I’m completely in love with beautiful stores. I can’t shop at stores that I find unappealing. They can carry the *best* merchandise, but if the store is ugly, I’m not buying. Vessel rocks it out, as I’m sure you’ll agree…enjoy!

(Thanks Stefane for the great photos! All photos from Stefane at Vessel.)

Quick blurb about Tse + Tse…Based in Paris, Catherine Levy and Sigolene Prebois of Tse + Tse met while attending the Parisian School of Design, and have been creating things, lots of different types of things, ever since. They’ll admit, they have absolutely no speciality and certainly don’t mind their lack of focus, for it’s what makes them so charming. Paper goods, mirrors, kitchen wares, their products (and website!) certainly win an award for keeping me occupied, I feel like a kitten batting at all the charms dangling on every page. It’s so fun to navigate, a true window shopping experience, so when you’ve finished up with Illico, hop on over to Tse + Tse.
