New Book from Daily Candy!

I just spoke with my contact over at the Daily Candy and she told me all about their new book, Daily Candy A to Z: An Insider’s Guide to the Sweet Life, hitting book sellers nationwide on April 11th! She told me that they’ll also be exclusively offered at Anthropologie stores, exclusive as in the only retail clothing/accessories store that will carry the book. Of course, I’m very excited because I’ve been a mega Daily Candy fan for a few years now and find their emails informative and just laugh out loud funny. You can find everything featured, from the hottest new designers to sample sales and the next best place to grab a yummy bite with your pals. I also love when they feature articles on hot new design stores. Those are my favorites, of course, right?

To subscribe to Daily Candy, click here.

To preorder their upcoming book for only $18.36, Daily Candy A to Z: An Insider’s Guide to the Sweet Life, click here. It releases 4.11.06

BTW – It won’t include a ‘best of’ list from articles they’ve featured in the past, but it will include lots of yummy insights on everything from throwing a cocktail party to shopping tips.

Now *that* is the candy you’ll want to share! Tell all your friends!

Viva Terra – Eco Living With Style

I only recently discovered Viva Terra, a lush online store that takes great pleasure in supporting our amazing planet by offering ego-friendly designs for modern living. You can’t help but want to support them, given their amazing dedication to the health of our planet, which is pretty admirable since we all know that you often make less money by doing the right thing. I was thinking of what to say about them, but when I read their “About” page I thought that there was no need to, they do a beautiful job summarizing their mission and dedication to natural living. See for yourself:

“Our name VivaTerra or living earth is inspired by our dedication to living in harmony with nature – for a healthier life now and for future generations. All of our products reflect a commitment to:
ECOLOGY AND ELEGANCE: The finest goods that uniquely fuse exceptional quality and design with eco sensitivities. ORGANIC, SUSTAINABLE SOURCES: The purest ingredients and sustainable resources possible – selected to be the best available. EARTH AND PEOPLE FRIENDLY: Partners and suppliers who share our values and work to make a positive difference in the world. HANDCRAFTED BY ARTISANS: Distinctive goods of uncommon value, handcrafted by passionate designers and artisans. CELEBRATE LIFE: Celebrate life and human spirit by honoring traditions from cultures around the world.”

So, without further ado, I introduce some very fresh, very lovely finds from Viva Terra that you’re sure to take much pleasure in.

P.S. When your credit card statement arrives next month with Viva Terra written all over it, tell your sig other it was for a good cause.

hemlock keyhole necklace,$179
beautiful combination of wood and leather. I try not to feature jewelry and handbags, but you know, they are decorative home elements. How often do you intentionally rest your necklace on your dresser because it just looks so beautiful there? Or a handbag? I know I display my collection of handbags here and there; hanging on chairs or resting on a table if they’re decorative…Okay justified! ::smile::
vintage fabric hobo bag $129 + clutch $85
an instant “where did you get that?” item.
barn beam tables, $340-375
reclaimed antique beam side tables from Vermont artisans.
I absolutely *love* these.
teak flatware $49-549
plantation-grown teak meets contemporary stainless steel.
martim’s egg $65
made by the hands of Portuguese ceramicist Martim Santa Rita – he only makes 2 eggs per day!
Organic Cotton Sheets, now on sale $19 + up!
organically grown cotton is spun and woven into 250 thread-count sateen bedding.
cascading vines wall hanging $105 and pillow cover $69.
Eco-smart linen fabric for an airy illustrative appeal.

Also, not to miss the vermont branch hooks, the tin barn stars (I have a large one in rust), kiri wood magazine rack, barn silk pillow cover, and the aviary porcelin birds and bowls (bowls shown in top photo.)

Budget tip: clearance sale items here.

coffee + cre8tive [feb 23 ’06]

I was inspired by this pattern today, from the DWR website. It’s actually gift wrap (on sale too!) if you’re interested… What do you think of the design? It would make a beautiful rug, huh?
