Brooke Holm Photography

I just have to share a tiny glimpse of the portfolio belonging to Brooke Holm in Melbourne, Australia. I’ve noticed her work pinned on Pinterest a few times but never really knew who was behind the gorgeous imagery until now… I thought I’d highlight her here to share with all of you.

Beautiful! Her places portfolio fits so nicely to this song, don’t you think? Ok maybe that is a little cheesy because it’s the Twilight song but I think the mood is lovely and the lyrics are too. Look at this and play the song at the same time. Really nice together, right? Not too super cheesy. :)

West Elm To Open in Sydney & Melbourne!

Speaking of Lucy from The Design Files… Did you catch the two of us in the March catalog for West Elm? Each month until the end of summer, I’ve selected a different blogger to partner with and together, we give West Elm readers decorating advice. This special collaboration between West Elm and I kicked off in January and I’ve been having such a great time with them. I hope you’ve enjoyed the January, February and March issues so far, and my decorating ideas too!

West Elm has a glimpse of what we’re doing on their website here but if you’d rather get the gorgeous West Elm catalogs, you can subscribe here.

Oh and hellooooo Australia! West Elm will open its first stop in Sydney in May with another to follow in Melbourne. Wow, right? You have to check them out on their new Aussie Facebook page for the latest updates. This is the first time West Elm has opened up shop outside of North America – you guys are a lucky bunch! I wish they’d come to Germany or at least England as that’s only a 50 minute flight for me. A girl can dream…

The Woodsfolk

I was super inspired by a post Lucy wrote over at The Design Files yesterday about a new shop in Melbourne, Australia called The Woodsfolk. You have to visit Lucy’s blog to see the full monty but wow, this place made me so excited because it’s hard to find shops like this – it’s like a living, breathing blog or Pinterest board.

The Woodsfolk

I think photographer Brooke Holm did such a great job shooting this shop. I want to call the store and order everything I see – too bad Germany is like a million light years away from Melbourne or I’d be broke but living very large. :)

I love their Kip & Co cushions, The Motex old school label maker from South Korea and the Made By Mosey feather garlands – so cute!

Claire Cottrell’s Serene Home

I really enjoy reading Berlin-based website Freunde von Freunden because they bring you back to the real world without overly styled homes and Pinterest perfection. The homes they feature belong to creatives around the world and it’s pretty inspiring to catch glimpses into so many interesting apartments and homes from Berlin to LA and back again. A home that I really connected with recently belongs to online book shop owner, the talented Claire Cottrell who lives in Los Angeles. Though she had just moved in when her home was photographed for this feature, I loved how things were arranged so simply with gentle, gorgeous light caressing every corner. The plants made me happy too.

I’m IN LOVE with her kitchen. The stove, the mint green cabinets, that PACE monochromatic floral print. Ah. This photo makes me miss America so much.

Take a look at the entire feature here and read the lovely interview with Claire. Gives me a happy, serene feeling. Peace is a good thing. Also makes me want to have a second home in California. :) Gray, white, mint, gray with shots of yellow. Perfect.

The Everygirl

I recently discovered The Everygirl, have you heard of it? Founded in America by two ladies who met through blogging, The Everygirl is an online resource dedicated to helping shape the creative, career-driven woman to experience a life better lived with features that teach you how to incorporate creativity into your day, provide career motivation and inspire you to become the woman you want to be.

The Everygirl

Alaina Kaczmarski, who has a background in magazine journalism and psychology and Danielle Moss, who spent her twenties working as a nanny and executive assistant but with a degree in sociology, knew that together they could create some magic and The Everygirl is where they seem to be doing it. One part of the site that I love is the Careers section. I’ll highlight just a few of the dozens from their site. Wow, what a gorgeous gathering of inspirational ladies.

I loved the features on textile designer Caitlin Wilson. Isn’t her work space gorgeous? Great color scheme. You can find Caitlin’s fabrics online here. YUMMY!

And of course I loved learning more about super duper stylist Emily Henderson. She has my book in her home too – I always get so excited when people I admire have one of my books on display in their home. I feel like a little kid every time! Here’s a link to Emily’s blog – a must read!

I met AphroChic, also known as Jeanine Hays, on my book tour in 2011 and adored her – she’s such a lovely lady so it was especially nice seeing her profiled here and my book on her bookcase. :)

The great feature about Megan Gonzalez of Mae Mae Paperie was also an inspiration to me.

I also loved learning more about a favorite paper designer, Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co.

Another part of the site that I find super valuable and unique is their job postings page. At first, I thought this was only for jobs that The Everygirl was hiring for to work with them but nope, it’s a job board for all sorts of creative companies. I like that a lot!

I heart The Everygirl, great site!
