Do you remember the beautiful work of Max Wanger that I shared back in August of 2013? Well I got a hold of one of his pieces called Tulum from Framed & Matted over the summer and I’ve been dying to share it. I’ve been super busy but finally got around to snapping some photos today. Would you like to see this pretty beachy scene? I really love the mellow tones of blue and green against the crisp white frame and my gray wall.
I not only adore the print because I’m a total beach babe at heart (I grew up on the beach!), but also love that it’s behind good great quality plexiglas since I’m not a fan of art behind glass these days, especially with a little curious baby boy in the house. Plus, I really like the ease of install with frames that are light and plexi that is also very light – you can install something like this on a single sturdy nail and be done with it. This isn’t the final destination for this piece, I actually imagine it more in my bedroom, but for now I’ve leaned it against the wall in my dining area/work studio. Above the sideboard, by the way, will be the space where I plan to install my salon style art wall which I’ll detail and share on the blog this month, so stay tuned for the before and after of that.
Thank you Framed & Matted for this gorgeous piece! I was given this piece in exchange for a review under the agreement that if I didn’t like it, I would return it and not review it because that’s how I roll – if I don’t like something I am NOT standing behind it by posting it here! But I definitely stand behind this and love it – very pleased!
Hope you are having a nice weekend, it’s been gorgeous and so Fall-ish here, I don’t want it to end. I’m kicking and screaming into winter this year, I’m just not prepared for it! Wahhh! Endless autumn, please!

Want to see some amazing color combos for interiors today? Kate Imogen Wood is a British stylist from the lakes region now living and working in Copenhagen. She began styling when I started blogging, in 2005, and hasn’t looked back ever since – she is obsessed with Scandinavian interiors which shows in her portfolio which you can view online here. She was nice enough to write to me to introduce herself so I thought, since I really like what I saw when I viewed her work, that I’d choose and share some of my favorites from her work below. I choose these based on primarily the color combinations. They struck me as really current and unusual – lilac with shades of green and apricot with yellow – so good! See what you think.
What do you think about these color combos? Aren’t they bananas? ** love ** And I’m all for the tropical theme going on at the moment, you too? I predict it will go right into the new year and be a big part of 2015 interiors, what do you think?

Hello everyone! I’ve been totally absorbed in my e-course, Blog Boss, at the moment so I’m sorry if I’m not that active on the blog at the moment. Between teaching, one-on-one blog business consultations via Skype and redecorating some rooms in my home – well I’ve been busy! Plus I take care of my baby full-time and am busy with other work projects too. I have some great things coming up for 2015, including the redesign of decor8 AND a brand new logo.
It’s very exciting to be so busy, especially doing things that fuel me and make life sweeter. My baby boy is really thriving too, which makes me so proud. He is a little over 8 months old and tonight he did something for the first time that was so completely precious that I had tears of joy streaming down my face. I was putting him to bed and I asked him for a kiss. I usually just say “Kiss” or “Kiss mama” and he opens his mouth wide and dives in and plants a wet kiss (mouth open) on my face, somewhere around my mouth. Well tonight it was different. He did that, but then he kept giving me kisses and kisses and more kisses, even moving his little lips trying to make a kissy face… Holding both sides of my face in his little pudgy hands with his bright blue eyes gazing into mine with such joy… And the more he gave me the more he giggled and then I started giggling and we collapsed on the bed in hysterics as he kept kissing me more and more. Tears were streaming down my face because it was this perfect moment when you realize your baby is developing a real personality and is really starting to understand you and your humor and words and wow, it was magic to bond with him like that. I just had to share. He’s so darling.
Aren’t the photos in this post divine? I’ve been pinning like crazy from the new Design Files blog. I’m so impressed by what Lucy has done to revamp her site. Looks gorgeous. She is such an inspirational blogger. I love that it’s so easy now to find all of her beautifully photographed Australian home stories. Whenever I look at pictures of Australia I always think I COULD TOTALLY LIVE THERE. Don’t you?
How are you doing? I hope you are well. Do you have any heart warming stories to share?

There are often so many things that I do or see during the weekend that never make it to my blog or even to Instagram. I often wonder why don’t I share on decor8 as freely as I once did, why do I think everything needs it’s own post and tons of hours devoted to pulling together a review? When I got started as a blogger 9 years ago, I blogged so frequently and my recipe was usually that I’d produce a few big stories each week, a few mid-size ones, and then a bunch of quickies here and there. While everyone else is talking about slow blogging at the moment, I just want to go my own way and blog more frequently and share what I see, but not necessarily make every post one that took me a day to pull together. So in honor of the blogger I once was, who I now want to become again, I’m going to blog daily and just follow my heart. Not every post will be something major, but at least I can use this space to do what I do best – spotlight all of the things that I love and to do it freely and somewhat easily.
Here are 8 lovely things that I found this weekend:
1. Me&Mats jewelry. I was sent a beautiful necklace, Mister Grey, as a gift and wore it with my new oversized beige cashmere sweater, a pair of jeans and my new boots with neon indigo blue trim. I felt like a million bucks in this necklace. I truly love it.
2. A stack of Anthology magazines that I was missing in my collection. Gosh I love this magazine so much.
3. These fun little Hoptimist figures from Concept Room are finally unpacked and ready to put somewhere in my home. They are so sweet and bouncy. One is definitely going into the baby’s room for his shelf (the ones he cannot reach yet!).
5. My quilt is finished! I’ve been working on this quilt for an embarrassingly long time. I decided to send it out to be quilted after I put it all together and it came back looking gorgeous. I’m so happy because this was a lot of work. Now I want to make more. Thank you Brigitte, you did a gorgeous job!
6. I’m prepping a “foodie” shoot for the decor8 shop. Here you can see some of the things I’ll soon feature above like the gorgeous serving board is from Arayna Jensen, the print from Colour Moon and these gorgeous linen napkins from Celina Mancurti that are to die for. I’m so proud that I stock handmade products that are made so beautifully.
8. Flipping through Milk Decoration magazine, given to me by my friend who just returned from France. I’m so glad this was part of my weekend. So inspiring.
And finally, because I haven’t blogged about him in so long… Here is my little Aidan with his daddy. He turned 8 months old on October 9th. He is such a darling boy. He started crawling at 6 months and is standing too but hasn’t walked on his own yet – we’re thinking he’ll start walking at 10 months. He’s so close!!!
So those are 8 things that I found this weekend. I hope you had a nice weekend and found some good stuff too. – Holly
