Taryn D. wrote to me about Renee Garner’s etsy shop, Wolfie and the Sneak, and I loved it so much I had to spread the word because it’s fun, bright, spirited, and perfect for those of you that collect prints like I do. I’m a little obsessed with print collecting right now, but whatevah. It beats smoking crack.
Somehow I think I’ve heard of Renee before, but I can’t be sure. Anyway, now I know who she is and so do you. We’re all so savvy when it comes to these indie artists, aren’t we? And there are so many great ones out there, it’s fantastic how we can own work for so little moolah to replace all the years of framed prints we may have from big box stores. Now I purchase only art from friends, galleries, eBay, or etsy. It’s a pledge I made with myself. Support artists. The joy of framing things you love created by people that put so much of themselves into it, sheer pleasure! And it doesn’t have to be expensive…
I find that everything Renee creates appeals to me on some level, especially since she uses colors that I like and lots of animal imagery. But I’m crazy in love with the color-it-yourself prints (I just purchased these, shown below) because they’d give me a chance to be a little creative and have fun without stressing over my inability to draw like she does. Now I can take part in this art, and hang it on my wall, knowing that the color choices came from me. That’s sorta cool.
Psst: Renee has a beautiful blog, and she is giving away her seed pod print (below top left) if you are one of the first 5 to comment on this post today! Not here on decor8, over on Renee’s blog…
Thanks for writing in, Taryn!

Are you looking for that one special shower curtain, not the run of the mill pattern that all your friends have, but something totally chic? You must hit Fine Linen and Bath. They carry shower curtains by John Robshaw that are simply stunning, priced between $90-120, which is actually reasonable considering the amount of fabric a shower curtain yields and how great of an impact a beautiful print can have in a bathroom. Plus, you’re guaranteed to have the best looking bathroom around, which scores lots of points in my book. I love this yellow and white pattern. Bookmark alert!

Shanna Murray contacted me recently about her etsy store and I was so excited to see her new collection when I read, “Every month I celebrate the beauty of daily life, centering on a theme, with each new month and theme, a new set of designs will be here in the shop.” What an exciting store, I love the idea of work created according to a theme, rotating monthly.
This month, her shop is based on the May} to market theme. She just launched it today, so you have to take a peek. All materials used in her designs are organic and/or recycled (unless otherwise specified), which makes her collection that much more special. Coin purses, linen bags for market shopping, pillows, and the best part, the girl can take a good product shot. She should totally take photos for a living. Her collection of images are stunning. I love how delicate and precious her work appears, using linens combined with hand-stitching, it’s traditional materials used to create modern, clean designs. Something we all love to see.
Thank you Shanna for sharing your collection with us!

Stephanie DosReis from Providence contacted me over the weekend about her art. She’ll be attending Surtex for the fist time in May down in New York (4th floor of the River Pavilion, booth #1003 with Bridgewater Design) and thought we’d enjoy a sneak peek of her work before it hits the show. You can view some of her work in progress below or here on flickr. Some already completed designs, in the form of onesies, t-shirts, quilts, art, are for sale in her etsy store, Ponies & Sugar Cookies.
Psst: Learn more about Stephaine via her blog, A Little Deer. I love reading about the process of design, so her blog is a must read if you enjoy tapping into the brain of a creative lady like Ms. DosReis. Thanks Stephanie for introducing us to your work, I especially love your mini quilt art, it’s beautiful!

Combining fashion and pups – adorable! Stationery from The Pet Set celebrates the pampered pooch like no other, and Philadelphia-based illustrator Colleen Madden captures that special relationship perfectly, don’t you think?
