House Doctor has done it again with another pretty collection for Autumn/Winter 2014 with their Moments collection. I think it’s very smart and sophisticated, understated, simple and cool. Colors range from rose to cool blue, mossy and teal greens, yellow and smokey gray. For materials, you have copper, gold, brass and marble along with wood, in particular, plywood. Christmas looks very casual again this year in Scandinavian design and since House Doctor is Danish, they are leading the pack with simplicity and pared down decor for the ho-ho-holidays. Lanterns a-glow, metal and wire, hand-blown glass, baskets (for displaying fir trees large and small). I really love this collection. Here are 12 photos from House Doctor that I am able to share with you to tickle your design fancy. To see more, visit their online catalog here.
This sofa above is a personal favorite. Do you like it too?
I like seeing a simple fir tree in a big skinny two-tone basket, don’t you?
Really crushing on this light fixture and sofa combo. Perhaps for my studio makeover? Hmmm.
This rose and that tealish chair make me squirm in my, ahem, seat. Lovely!
I know this is being shown as a dining table but I’m thinking of this for my new desk. What do you think of that? I also love that they took 3 lights and turned them into a big bubble cluster. In real life though, I have no clue how I’d install that in my house – how do you merge 3 lights into one anyway?
Shelving I’m considering for my new office.
See anything you fancy?

Yeah, I know, I know. I am going to show you something in my shop. Horror! But I must disclose that this came about by the demands of my readers, not from me so maybe it won’t feel so commercial and evil now that you know that. Ok, so I posted this rug that I co-designed for Olli + Ella for Aidan’s nursery and the internet blew up (in a good way) because so many people wanted this rug – the room tour even ended up in magazines (Fit Pregnancy in the US and Luna Mum in Germany) and online over at Apartment Therapy. It wasn’t available because it was a custom job BUT for the next 25 days in my little shop you can buy it! And yes, I earn a wee commission if it sells which may earn me a dinner out… I’m not going to buy a yacht so I can go blog on the Riviera. But I want to at least notify you guys since so many loved the rug in my nursery reveal, so now you can have a chance to own a rug that I worked on designing the colorway of. That’s pretty cool, I’m proud of it!
Details: Colors – A little monty aqua, a splash of ecru, a hint of white, some sunny yellow and a dash of our warm musk. Size – 100cm diameter. Material – 100% wool. HANDMADE IN ENGLAND.

Australian stylist and interiors author Shannon Fricke released a new collection of bed linens this past Spring called, “Where Love Resides”, which is in her signature palette of greens and blues. The collection is presented “free range style” so you can mix and match your favorite pieces to create a bed with your own personal style stamp. There are quilt covers, pillowcases and cushions in cottons, linens and velvets. Here is a glimpse below – so beautiful! And hello, can someone please transport me to this hammock on the Australian coast? Like, now!
I can definitely see these selling at Anthropologie or the wonderful ABC Carpet + Home, so perhaps this post will be shared and you guys can help Shannon get her line into the US or European market. I’d love to see that. I know Shannon personally, we dined together a few times in New York City while I was working on one of my books a few years ago, and we hit it off quite nicely. She is a very dedicated business woman with a creative soul – an Aries like me – a real go-getter. She has a billion ideas and tons of passion, talent, energy and drive. You really can’t fail with that recipe can you?
Shannon all the best on your new collection!

Ok so my last post sorta bummed me out so let’s talk about creative handpainted gold leaf baked goods before the weekend hits. I don’t want to end my blog this week talking about dead birds! Downer! I decided to launch a new column on decor8 that I believe I can actually stick to called Instagram Fave Friday because I find a bevy of great stuff on IG and I feel so limited when trying to share great IGers. And trust me, I find some amazing IG peeps because I have a baby and my iPhone is my best friend when he’s asleep in my arms – so I surf and save constantly. I’m an IG machine. So I figured to just devote a weekly column that you can visit on Friday to end each week looking at beautiful things from talented people. Sounds like a plan.
I was thinking this morning that IG doesn’t have a real way to share, does it? I mean, you can see some stuff in that News feed but it’s not that great if you follow say, more than 50 people. You miss stuff unless you are refreshing the News feed every 10 seconds and I’m just not into that. Sure, you can fave images but no one can see your faves (which in all honestly I sorta like) but on the other side, when you WANT to share stuff you can either repost or regram it, which I just don’t like, or you have to tweet it but still a tweet doesn’t have much reach these days like a blog post. I still find that my blog posts go the distance when it comes to shares.
Yeah, so I’m going off topic slightly… But I’m going to take you on a little Instagram Fave Friday, my debut installment, right now. Today I’m highlighting IG extraordinaire, Nectar and Stone, who is Donna-Caroline Khoo a Dessert Designer with dreams to open a cakery someday in Melbourne. All I can say is MY GOD SHE SHOULD. Support this woman, people. If you live down there and have some leads for her, or ideas, or whatever she is someone that I believe could do beautiful things with a brick and mortar bakery. What talent. And hello publishers… Book deal alert!
On IG Caroline shares the things she makes and bakes, chocolate with gold leaf! Cupcakes! Girly Smoothies! Zebra cookies! Mini ice cream cakes in cones! Ice cream-shaped cookies! I know, I’m really living it up with these exclamation marks but oh! my! so! cute!
I love what she says about her growing brand, “Nectar and Stone – it’s who I am, what I love, my passion and creativity. I tell a story each day with my designs, colours, photography, flowers and style – it’s a collection of things from my past, present and future. I’m not here to make a quick dollar – my brand is about building loyal followers who love what I do and believe in me. I encourage people to find new ideas and concepts… ” So nicely stated. Makes me want to support her even more.
Yeah, this post is going to blow my diet too.
