Perhonen

Mari Relander and Anna Katriina Tilli are Perhonen, the design company meaning butterfly in Finnish. It's no wonder, their light fluttery Vuokko Anemome lighting has lacy patterns that whisk you away to a magical world where light dances all around you, almost resembling secret gardens, only revealing themselves at nightfall. In both the pendant and the floor model (shown below), fragments of lace are attached to a hand-blown glass shade, decorated with a frosted lace motif. TDF! (to die for). You can purchase Perhonen lighting here for $1,799-1,999 with free shipping to the US and Canada. Clearly, not budget buys, but who says we can't enjoy looking at these sexy illuminators anyway!

Mari and Anna Katriina met at the University of Art and Design Helsinki during their studies, collaborating on a range of design projects and competitions which earned them many awards. In 2003, their designs were selected for the annual Sotheby?s London contemporary art and design exhibition. More recently in Tokyo, their work was exhibited in a new Scandinavian design exhibition, curated by designer Harri Koskinen and held at the prestigious Issey Miyake Design Studio Gallery (an honor indeed!). Their Vuokko Anemone table has fragments of lace attached to it, is constructed of sand blasted glass, hand-made lace and powder coated mehttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.giftal parts (shown below). This stunner won best in furniture in the 2003 Elle Decoration UK Furniture Awards. You can purchase it here for $1,999 with free shipping to the US and Canada.
