RISD: Summer Classes, May 20 Runway Show, May 21 Apparel Sale: Providence, RI
I received a very nice hello from decor8 reader, Gina Gregorio. Gina is a textile designer working for apparel and home furnishing markets, as well as a specialist in CAD for textiles. She also teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in the Textile Design Department. Gina has a feeling that some creative decor8 readers would have an interest in a few of thier summer courses. Gina will teach a Digitally Printed Fabrics course, an intensive course that moves from concept to design development and then onto digitally printed fabrics. There is also a Jacquard weaving course designed for beginners and more advanced students that proceeds at a quick pace from pattern to woven fabrics. Classes are being held at the RISD campus in Providence, Rhode Island this summer. Sounds like a lot of fun, so if you're able, visit RISD online for more information and to register!
In addition, if you're in Providence this weekend, don't miss the RISD Runway Show! Every spring RISD?s Apparel Design students show their clothing to the public via a runway show, taking place this year in a restored 1920s theater on Saturday, May 20th. If you would like tickets to this event, please contact the Veterans Memorial Auditorium Box Office at 401 272-4VMA.
If you would rather shop for these stunning creations, you have to check out the annual RISD Apparel Sale on Sunday, May 21st at noon in the RISD Auditorium lobby, Canal Walkway at Market Square.
For more details on these two events, visit RISD online.
Thanks for writing in, Gina!
