Eloise Corr Danch

I heard from the creative Eloise Corr Danch today, she’s an artist based in Brooklyn who dreams up and creates the most exquisite paper flower sculptures ever! Lucky for those based in New York, some of her work is on view now until April 19th in the windows at Macy’s flagship Herald Square store in NYC (34th St. between Broadway and 7th). Fun! This whimsical installation features ornate headdresses with 2,500 swirling paper flower garlands. Weeee!

About Eloise: “Her interest in paper sculpture grew from a collaboration with New York designers Ruffian in which she created a paper dress in rococo style for a New York Observer charity event. These and other recent projects, including product and prop design, have added a three-dimensional component to a background in painting and illustration. A proud member of the Society of Illustrators, Eloise received an MA in illustration from FIT and has studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Paris American Academy.”

I’m inspired after seeing this to start making paper flowers again! I made them frequently growing up with my mother, and of course for my wedding and other parties I’ve thrown, but I haven’t done much lately with paper flowers so I’m inspired to dream up a flower project of my own in June or July when some extra time should present itself for creative add-ons in my life. How about you? Inspired too? :)

Have you tried crafting flowers from paper? Any examples of your work that you’d like to share? Please include links in the comment section below, I’m always up for a little show ‘n tell. :)
