Hygge Style Shop In Warsaw
You really must check out this newly transformed Soviet-era dental clinic in Poland today, it's the retail space of Thisispaper and I was happy that owners and designers Zuzanna Gasior and Aleksandr Zacharow took the time to reach out to me to share their space with me. It is very Kinfolk Style! Now it's your turn to see it. This simple and quiet interior is quite striking, don't you think?
If you've not heard of them before, Thisispaper is located in Warsaw and they design and carry their own products (like gorgeous bags and totes), the Thisispaper magazines and high-quality roasted organic Japanese teas. Thisispaper is located next door to their studio space so they make in one space, sell in the other (and also online).
The transparent resin floor gives the space a raw feeling while the birch plywood warms up the interior. Did you notice the wooden door handle and the storage beneath the windows? And the massive shelving system is a real gem. The plants add a human element and a touch of green without interrupting the neutral palette.
I particularly love the very German mid century stereo! It's Dieter Rams' Braun Audio 1 Stereo (so Mad Men!) which fills the air with sound for the ultimate customer experience - vinyl spins as one carefully examines the products...
This shop design is such a lesson in restraint, wow! I find it incredibly cool when people can create environments that are so uncluttered, unadorned and clear. It's so straightforward! That's definitely not my strong side, I tend to like a bit more around but then when I see such minimalism, I long for it. I want to live in this austere space. Though I know that it would only take a few days and it would be riddled with magazines, books, flowers, art, patterns...
Yet this is still so, so gorgeous to me. Do you like it too? I especially love the elements that came with the space - the old windows and doors. Swwoooon!
