I found the cutest bird tray over at Kay Loves Vintage today — she discovered it in the latest IKEA catalog which (ahem) my mail carrier failed to leave in the corridor of our house… though he delivered them to other buildings. Hmmm. Perhaps my husband told him to avoid leaving them here as he slipped him a twenty or something. :) Well I think this tray that Kay found is brilliant and as she noticed too, it’s very Charley Harper-esque which I completely love. So colorful and fun!

I’m sure lots of these will soon pop up in home tours on blogs around the world as the latest IKEA must-have item. I know as soon as my local IKEA stocks these I’m ON IT. Hey, why not? They are practical and cute and for Summer, great for serving drinks on the patio. They are even good for the desk to arrange pencil holders, notepads and such on. Let’s hear it for fun, affordable design! And birds! Birds rock people.

I just picked one up over the weekend. I’m going to use it in my girls room, maybe on a dresser but probably hung up.

I didnt get my Ikea catalog either! Your husband and my fiance must be in collusion against us and all things Ikea. Judging by the cuteness of this tray, the situation must be remedied immediately.

I bought one here in the UK a few weeks ago and it makes me smile every time I use it. It reminded me of Charley Harper too. As you say ‘great, affordable design’.

I was at Ikea about 1.5 weeks ago and saw that beautiful tray. I put it in my trolley until my Mum remarked: You’re bird crazy. What are you going to do with that?

So I put it back. And now I want it again! Bah. :)

I’m grabbing this the next time I head to Ikea as well. This tray is not actually in the US catalog though I think it is in the UK one. I’m not sure why because it is definitely showing on in US stores now.

I’ve saw this tray in Elle Decoration a couple of months ago and I LOVE it! I didn’t spot it in the catalogue though… maybe it wasn’t in the English one!? Ahhh I might have to have another look!

I got one here in Australia a few weeks ago too, and use it as a drinks tray permanently on the deck with a lovely blue pottery jug and glasses. We’re just coming into Summer here, so it’s going to get a lot of use. I’m a bit worried about seeing it at everyone else’s houses though!

I have a serious bird fettish and found this at the beginning of the summer, bought 2 for my cottage, and it delighted my guests and I all summer long! It made even the mundane clearing of the dishes from the outdoor table (which seems miles from the kitchen but isn’t) an enjoyable task! Glad you shared so others can experience the joy of a simply lovely tray!

i read online that this tray in the bird pattern is not available in the usa. that majorly bummed me out. if anyone finds out otherwise, please let me know how i can get one. i love it too!

Loooooove it. Just looked it up on the webiste of IKEA. Gotta have it. By the way, have to admit that i STOLE the new catalouge from the neighbour since I hadnt have the key for the mailbox with me. i bought two of these trays at a IKEA here in the US this month (the elizabeth, nj store, in the NYC metro area, to be exact). so clearly the rumor that they aren’t being sold in the US is not true. emily, where did you read that?

I have one – its so bright and fun! I was walking through Ikea in Perth when my toddler started saying “Ya Ya” (her word for birds) and pointing. Once I figured out she meant the tray I had to grab one. She uses it now as a snack tray – I hide the birds under lovely big slices of watermelon.

I just bought three of them (one for me, one for my sis, and one for my mom) at an Ikea here in Maryland. It wasn’t on the USA website but it was right there in the store for $5.99.

Was in Adelaide, Ikea (Australia) yesterday and didnt see this gorgeous MUST HAVE tray anywhere .. and I just did a search of their website for BARBAR and was unable to locate it that way either ..

will keep it on my ‘must get’ list for Ikea and when I go back to get my Alve desk & hutch next month I will see if its in then :)

I got the tray a few weeks ago and my mom is begging me to give it to her or at least go back to Ikea and get another for her. It is so sweet!!! It has all the colors that I am going to add to my kid friendly basement. :) I really am in love with Decor8. What a beautiful blog!!
