Inspired by Bolig Magazine

I was hopping around Facebook today to check in on some of my friends and noticed this terrific link to Bolig that Tiger posted. And then down the rabbit hole I fell into the beautiful Scandinavian interiors featured in Bolig magazine online. Here are some views into some of my favorite rooms which make me all the more excited to move into a new flat and decorate!

Bolig Inspiration

I have so many ideas for my new space that I want to execute soon — my dream is to find a flat soon enough so that I can decorate it and include it in my decorating book that will be out next spring. So the apartment search continues but I am hopeful because hey, I have to find a place sooner or later. Be positive, right?!

Bolig Inspiration

Bolig Inspiration

Aren’t these spaces so clean and lovely? If you’d like to join in on the drool fest and leave some of your thoughts below please do — I’d love to know what room you like the best and why, what elements you see that you’d like to try at home, etc.

I like the bold yellow in the kitchen above, the light wood floors (and the white ones, swoon!), the “ruler” table runner (did you spy that too?), the giraffe art, the shelf over the bed, and the shiny black smeg fridge. :)

I do believe the second to last image is most attractive to me~ the mix of seating looks effortless and the bench with pillows, so cozy~ it would seem that using pillows at a dining table would not be worth the maintenance, but it would make you want to stay at the table longer….I love to stay and chit-chat after meal ( and avoid doing dishes :). Thanks for bringing bolig to us.

wow- it is hard to pick just a few elements in this lovely post, they all inspire me! but once again, I think all of the white, the clean lines and the dollops of color are just my favorite way to decorate. and I so want white wood floors in my bedrooms, perhaps one day. thanks for another morning of inspiration- Kathi

Love the clean, airy feel. Was that a refrigerator in the top photo? It almost looks (probably just from the photo, I suppose) flat, like it’s been built into the wall???

Oh, I like the living room with the grey sofa – I love rooms with very minimalist basic materials, colors and shapes (white wall, wooden floor…) and then adding some vintage details (like the wall clock and the big basket on the floor) and bright spots of color like the pillow…

Hehe I love the ruler runner too :) actually I love that whole dining set up, it looks somehow cosy despite all the white — and I am a sucker for a nice gathering of mismatched seating! x

The space with the little chalkboard easel looks so amazing! I have four children and it is hard to keep my decor clean and simple.. I would love to be able to incorporate fun kid’s elements and still have the room look grown up.

Yum! One thing I noticed is that many of the rooms have bookcases/drawers lifted off the floor. That’s so interesting to me! I especially love the idea in a playroom/library (the third photo). I also love all the color against white. I can’t pull it off (I can’t live in white walls – too many years of cheap apartments!), but I think I should add more white to my decor as a balance. TFS!

I saw the ruler table runner in last year’s H&M home collection and just went over to see if they still have it. On the German website, under Sale and Home you can still buy the placemats at 2 Euro for 2.

The second to last is calling to me. My favorite place in my home is spread out at my dining room table, with magazines, notebooks and my laptop. And, music playing of course. I can imagine myself at that table.

I love the natural lighting ~ I also like the white walls..both really make the limited colors and blacks really stand out in beautiful way. I just got through repainting my studio walls with white and it has made all the difference:) I like the image of the desk and prints.
I have an idea for a future post. As I mentioned I am in the process of reorganizing my art studio. It’s rather small size ( 5′ x 12′) has made it tricky to make the space both beautiful and functional. A post showcasing modest or odd size art studios or craft rooms would be a great source of inspiration for some of us artists in the process of Spring cleaning our spaces:)

I can´t stop diving into the blog magazine, what a discover!!
From your selected images I love the light how comes from the window in the roof, the light floors, the open spaces but yet cozy and the details in bright colors. I also like how they use black everywhere but they keep it warm. I don´t know how they do it!!

The clock in the last picture is from Habitat:
    http://www.habitat.co.uk/fcp/categorylist/browse/living/home-accessories/?addFilter=TYPE&filterValue=clocks&filterNameAlias=TYPE

I love that yellow kitchen too. There is a few more pictures of it here:
    http://boligmagasinet.dk/article/37403/gallery/213360
It’s so nice that they have kept the original kitchen from the 1953, the article says the house belonged to the grandparent of the current owner. Every house/apartment from the 1950s/early 1960s here in Norway had that same kitchen and most of them were torn out years ago. They were made of solid wood and were extremely durable. I haven’t seen any yellow ones before this one, they were often in typical mid-century colors, muted blues/greens/greys. Here is a good example (from the exhibits at Norsk Folkemuseum (The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History):
    http://media.aftenposten.no/archive/00559/_BM04kjkkken3105_jp_559457a.jpg

I had a similar kitchen in an apartment I rented years ago, unfortunately they had painted it an awful 1980s pink!

This “rough” wooden floor is fantastic. I wish I had something like that in my home instead of the carpet.

There’s something to like in each of the photos . . . I especially like the white wooden floors and when I finally own a place, I hope I can do the floors in shiny white paint. I also love the salon style groupings of art, which is how I tend to hang work. And I’m hoping to get an IKEA Expedit bookshelf soon, which is similar to the bookshelf in the second pix . . .I think it will be both a good organizing tool and a good space for “still lifes” in my office/bedroom.

What a beautiful home! Love the white-washed floors! Normally I don’t love all white walls (my house was like that when I moved in… now it’s a rainbow of warm colors!), but this is a bright, refreshing space. Lots of natural light! I want to rent this space for a couple of weeks!
