Gorgeous Paris Apartment of Jean-Christophe Aumas

I’m so smitten by the Paris apartment of Jean-Christophe Aumas that has been in numerous decorating magazines over the past few years – I spotted it in Maire Claire Maison first where these images are from below. This home is totally Palm Springs mid century meets Paris, right!? HOW FUN.

So pretty in paris

The decorating idea that I’m taking away from these photos is the painted firewood shown above. Brilliant. I really, really love it. I’d like to try it in 80′s neon hues. Fab!

You have a bit of pink, black, grey, red, teal and eye-catching acid green. If you don’t know Jean-Christophe, he is a talented art director who has worked for such high end labels as Chloé, Diptyque, and John Galliano. He obviously has an amazing eye and the bones of his flat are splendid. His collection of art and furniture is impressive. When can I move in?

Regarding painted firewood: I just hope no one is going to try to burn this. Think of the toxic substances released into the air. Otherwise, if not for burning, it’s sort of cute

Those floors are amazing! I wonder if it’s possible to recreate floors that look like that or if only the passage of time can do it. I had to look twice at these pictures. At first I thought they were vintage photos, but I guess it was shot to look a little like that.

Love the quirkiness of this space! Especially the last pic, with the dark walls. I just blogged about trying to move over to the “dark side” and I think that room is as good a reason as any :)

I’m a little speechless about the quaint design of this space! The style is certainly a mash of different decorating styles and my favourite item is certainly the chair in the wall (pic 3) with the spotlight on it. I’m sure it’s the first place my children would pick!

So beautiful…all of it. The colored firewood shows attention to detail! I love the herringbone wood floor. This is the fourth herringbone wall or floor I’ve seen this week. I feel the universe is trying to tell me something.

I was actually inspired by this apartment and did a post on it if you are interested. :)

Can I disagree on this one? which will mean I am in the minority! I do love an electic look, I swoon over floorboards and like quirky peices of furniture and unique decorating. I too spotted this apartment in the edition of ‘Inside Out’ – Australian edition. I know it’s located in Paris, however this apartment looks junky. It’s lines are haphazard, no rhythm, really awful peices of furniture – except the ‘swan sofa’ which in my minds eye should be reupholstered *gasps from the peanut gallery* – I’m sorry I hear you… It doesn’t work for me, again I know I’m the minority. no apologies.

It’s so chic and modern, yet quite rustic and homely which is a very difficult balance to get right. Those herringbone floors have me weak at the knees! I just adore the bell jars and typography in the fireplace too!
