Georgian House Envy From Light Locations

September 27, 2012

I have TOTAL HOUSE ENVY right now. I mean, I’m super green. London is calling me in a major way and now this house is not helping me much. Just wait until you start scrolling down… Your eyes will pop out and roll onto your desk. You’ll salivate like a St. Bernard and feel all clammy. You’ll swear you’re menopausal. Yup, even if you’re a dude. Thing is, I cannot NOT show you this home despite the health risks so here you go… Drool.

Georgian House Envy From Light Locations

London is consistently my go-to point for inspiration, in fact, if I ever earn enough money to buy a property there then I plan on doing just that so I can have a part-time crash pad in the city that sets my heart aglow [*dream on holly*]. I couldn’t live there full-time as I love Hannover and my life here too much, but I DO imagine a one bedroom with lovely sunshine and old world details within a walking distance to flowers and cupcakes and quirky flea markets… I thought also that it could be where decor8 readers could stay by renting through me when I’m back home in Hannover.

Georgian House Envy From Light Locations

Wouldn’t that be a lovely idea? A decor8 pied-à-terre? Of course, it would be in total decor8 style – so you would be staying in “my blog”, experiencing all of the things that I love firsthand and being part of the whole decor8 experience. Now I need someone to read this post and make my dream come true – investors anyone? LOL. I’d even leave a beautiful guide to my favorite places for you on the table, stock the kitchen with my favorite teas and snacks, have fresh flowers delivered on the day of your arrival and make sure to include a list of local bloggers that you could connect with in case you felt alone. See, I already have a business plan for decor8 pied-à-terre. When I think of this idea, I get all tingle-y!

AND while I’m thinking of this for a future idea for now, I am still dreaming while looking at Light Locations, where you can pay to rent a space for a day (or longer) to use as a space for styling and photography, fashion shoots, etc., and imagining how I’d decorate the ultimate decor8 space.

In this post, I’ve included my most favorite home at the moment from the Light Locations website (Grove Way SW9)– because it’s a Georgian home first of all and because the decor style is truly unbelievable! I must know who owns this flat, I can only imagine very rich, very fabulous people.

I love all of the Designers Guild textiles and the color-washed vintage rugs and of course, the mismatched pieces from different eras and those amazing wall colors and the bedroom wallpaper, which looks like it’s also from Designers Guild, and and and gush gush gush… it is truly the best home ever. I think I feel a decorating moment coming on. I plan to introduce some more charcoal and black into my home for Fall/Winter and well, this home didn’t just encourage me to think about it but motivated me to DO IT. I’m already bringing in teal and mustard. I love when an inspiring interior has that kind of power – to motivate change – to kick your butt out of a rut. When you see something you click with, it’s the best feeling evah.

Holly, you were right…I’m totally drooling over this space. There’s so much great inspiration here. I love the pops of bright color against the pale gray walls and white molding, but the dining room is my favorite space. It’s different but still feels connected.

  • Reply Natalie / Half Asleep Studio September 27, 2012 at 8:52 pm

LOL, I love your idea! I would really enjoy staying in your “blog”. LOVE that rounded pink couch and the colorful curtains in the dining room!

  • Reply April Heather Davulcu September 27, 2012 at 9:12 pm

PINK sofas! I think I’m in love. And all that gorgeous color! I LOVE this place-could move right in. Simply perfect.

  • Reply Lindsey September 27, 2012 at 9:18 pm

Ok, excuse me a minute, I have to go get my eyes put back in my head. I have to say that is my dream dining room. The curtains! The table! The books! Too beautiful.

  • Reply Jodi September 27, 2012 at 9:22 pm

okay, absolutely gorgeous space. but what i REALLY love is the idea of a decor8 pied-à-terre!! what a brilliant idea!

  • Reply Sara September 27, 2012 at 9:34 pm

Sounds like a great idea Holly! Wouldn’t mind a crash pad in London myself, and if it looked anywhere near to this, I’d be pretty content. The aqua colours of the rug in the last photo are stunning, it sets the tone of the hallway.

  • Reply Jasmin September 27, 2012 at 9:39 pm

Great… don’t know what to say… sitting here… eyes and mouth wide open… drooling undignified…
Usually when I enter a room or house, I have this weird game I play with myself since I can think: Are there 10 things I’d like to have?
In this house there is not one thing I’d NOT want to have…
Thank you Holly for sharing. :-)

  • Reply Sandra September 27, 2012 at 10:12 pm

It’s just KILLING me to see this Georgian era home with modern furnishings. You see, JUST after we heard that we were moving to Vancouver – only FIVE days after – we were meant to start demolition and renovation on a Victorian row house in Toronto. A renovation that I had been planning for a year.

We had renovated another one about 8 years earlier and I was itching to get back at it again. I LOVE the bones of a Georgian or a Victorian or even and Edwardian era home. They just make.sense.

And you can have SUCH fun working with that tension between the old and the new. This home that you featured is fabulous.

    Some day…

My friend showed me this house recently as she was thinking of using it for a ‘ahem’ well known clothing brand shoot, I love the kitchen – nothing fitted, just great pieces of furniture. Even though I live in London I think I’d still have a little break at the decor8 pied-a-terre!

Such an amazing use of colour, this and the mix of contemporary and vintage items makes the house feel really modern. I’m really inspired by the blue and green living room. I am trying to achieve this (but
    on a much smaller scale!).

  • Reply Kim September 30, 2012 at 1:26 pm

You have let my secret indulgence out: I have been drooling over these pictures on lightlocations for months;-)I think it is the use of colour and alternative use of vintage furniture, that make this house stunning, but what is topping it off is the detailing (fi the lights).

  • Reply Hatice September 30, 2012 at 2:33 pm
