Trend Watch 2006

It's January 16th. By now, you've already started and stopped 5 diets and 16 gym attempts. Don't worry, I have something you can do right now that will make you feel better of the non-caloric kind. You can add some color to your life. In the design world, the trendy colors for 2006 have already been selected. Designers and Marketing guru's are in the know. Are you?

Top 5 colors of '06

Warm Grey (a.k.a. "greige" because it looks like grey and beige mixed together)
Paint suggestion: Farrow & Ball "Elephants Breath" #229
Fuchsia
Paint suggestion: Sherwin-Williams "Exuberant Pink" #6840
Lime Green
Paint suggestion: Para Paints "Lime Sorbet" #P1070-1
Tobacco Orange

Paint Suggestion: Sico "Elephanta" #6120-74
Peacock Blue
Paint suggestion: Benjamin Moore Mosaic CC-874

The above colors are everywhere - but I can't take any credit at all for the color suggestions. We need to give the good people at Canadian House + Home mad props for the help. Amazing magazine, by the way. I've been an avid reader for ages because I'm in Montreal 3-4 times a year scoping out Interior Design trends up there and spotted it at a kiosk way back when. If you are anywhere within driving distance to Montreal, you've got to get up there. I'll be covering design trends from Montreal in April, so stay tuned.

By the way....thanks for the many supportive emails out there - you guys are amazing. It's refreshing to see so many that are interested in fresh design. Thank God. I was beginning to think this was the land of the homogenized Pottery Barn generation. (Not knockin' PB, but I can't afford/deal with everything in my home being from one catalog...)

Peace, Love and Good Design! See you tomorrow....
