Happy June! Can you get over that it's the official month of summer, here already? At least for us in New England... I don't know about you, but for me, it's exciting to think about all the trips to the coast we'll soon be taking and the long days strolling Boston and meeting up with friends. What are your summer plans?

We had planned to go to Germany in July for 2 weeks, but we've postponed that for a number of reasons (more on this below). Instead of going to Europe, we're planning to take lots of mini breaks here since we just can't squeeze in vacation time right now. For our anniversary in July, we're thinking of going to Martha's Vineyard for a weekend, but that's still up in the air. It's our 5th wedding anniversary, so we want it to be special...

In August, we're going to NYC for 4 days to stay with my friend in Brooklyn Heights. We're heading down towards the end of August since most of the Fall collections will be hitting stores and I can preview the next season. I'm hoping to get to the Gift Fair to see a few friends who are presenting this year, too.

In September, during Labor Day weekend, we're going up to Montreal to stay with Uncle Ken and the family, as we call our crew in Quebec. I will be reporting on Montreal design finds and we'll take 5 days relaxing with our friends there. Then, after we get back, we'll be packing our bags for Germany, my husband and I will be staying there for 3 months this year, back in the states in December. GKFA.com is putting me on assignment to cover design there, so I'm on the prowl now, trying to line up everything I can before we leave. While in Germany, we plan to venture out since we want to get up to Copenhagen and London. Of course, in Germany we'll be visiting Berlin since it's only 1.5 hours by train from where we're staying in Hannover. If anyone is wondering about decor8, I'll be blogging while I'm away the same as I do now, only it may actually be more interesting to some of you because I'll have lots of photos to share as I explore the design world and various cities and shops that I stumble upon. I'm looking forward to meeting up with some designers, too.

Funny story... Which highlights the importance of impulse shopping (he he). Just this past weekend I came across stunning leather accessories from the Designer's Guild in a black and white damask print - a passport cover and luggage tags to match. I also picked up a fuschia leather ticket holder with a suede gray interior from the Designer's Guild, too. Best part, everything was under $50 total at TJ Maxx. I didn't realize how valuable my purchase was though, until I arrived at home. I placed my passport inside of its new cover and EEK! I noticed that it expires in August 2006! THIS August! First of all, I can't believe it was 10 years ago that I boarded my first international flight. Second, and most important, if I hadn't made the impulse purchase in the first place, I'd be standing in queue at the ticket counter in September, excited and ready to board my flight, and BAM! No entry because my passport would have been invalid. Can you imagine?

Well, that's all for updates here. Hope you have a great day, it's June, so get outside and do a little summertime happy dance for me!

Coming soon, blog of the week! You'll love this one, so stay tuned...
