Renegade Craft Fair: June 17 + 18 in Williamsburg's McCarren Park: Brooklyn

The Renegade Craft Fair hits Brooklyn, NY for the second year in a row on June 17 + 18 in Williamsburg's McCarren Park (Bedford Ave. + N. 12th St.). Almost 200 vendors are traveling from all over the country and Canada to participate and sell their handmade goods, everything from clothing and jewelry to journals and handprinted posters. The outdoor fair begins at 11am and runs until 6pm and attendance is free to the public. The first 500 shoppers who stop by the Renegade Craft Fair booth each day will receive a free goodie bag filled with magazines, cool craft kits, art prints and accessories from vendors.

Tapping into the recent DIY craft explosion, this year's Brooklyn fair drew hundreds of applicants and promises to appeal to shoppers of all different tastes. Some notable vendors include Texas-based embroidery artist Jenny Hart, renowned for her embroidered portraits, who will be in attendance selling her Sublime Stitching line of cool embroidery patterns. My Paper Crane's Heidi Kenney, the designer behind well-known plush goodies such as burnt toast and donuts, is making the trek from Pennsylvania to sell her creations. Brooklyn's own Make Workshop, a local venue offering classes such as shoemaking and knitting, will be selling handspun yarn. Boston's own Johnny Cupcakes will be hawking his wildly popular line of cupcake-themed t-shirts and accessories.

The event is sponsored by The Onion, ReadyMade Magazine, BUST Magazine, Venus Zine and Rockpile, all of which will have merchandise for sale or free magazines available to shoppers. Contributors to the goodie bags include American Apparel, BUST Magazine, Sublime Stitching, Blissen, Fred Flare and Subversive Cross-stitch.
